Garment detail

The silk blouse has a center-front seam concealed by its single-layer cowl bib collar and decorative self-fabric appliqué. The panels of the blouse are cut on the bias while the appliqué is cut on the straight grain, allowing it to lie smoothly over the concavity of the clavicle. The interior finishing of the blouse includes hand overcast seams and hems, lingerie guards, and grosgrain waist stay. The neck back is fitted with four darts, the waist with six front dart tucks and four back darts to control the fullness. The center back closure is fastened with alternating snaps and hooks and eyes. The free edge of the collar is finished with a hand-rolled hem. The fitted cotton blouse is also bias cut. The sawtooth decorative placket is also bias cut, its checks aligning with the diagonal grain of the blouse pattern. The blouse has six darts at the back neckline; six tucks are grouped at the waist front and four at waist back. The center back closure is fastened with alternating snaps and hooks and eyes. A cotton plain weave tape at the back opening prevents the bias edge from stretching.
