Garment details

The pleated trims on the evening bodice are particularly creative. Most of the pleats are simple knife pleats with a few stand-up box pleats at the top of the sleeves. The neckline edge is softened by a shallow band of lace, its velvet ribbon insertion serving both decoratively and as a means of modifying the fit against the body. Tubings from the same fabrics are used as additional trims on the ruffles and also to cover the raw edges where the top and bottom ruffles meet. Aside from some minor machine stitching, nearly all seams and all the trims are applied by hand.
