Description We the [...] overseers of the poor of the Town of Jamaica in Queens County do herby certify that a Negro man slave named Cato the property of Nicholas Wyckoff of the said Town appears to us to be under the age of fifty years and is of sufficient ability to provide for himself and we do hereby authorize the Clerk of the Town of Jamaica to register this certificate agreeable to Law given under [...] the 19 day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve. Witness Thomas Bayles, John Bailey, Ephraim Bayles (overseer of the town Jamaica.) / I Nicholas Wyckoff above named do hereby manumit and set free the above named Negro man slave Cata given under my hand the twentieth day of March 1812. Witness Nicholas Wyckoff, Aaron [Furman?] Entered this 23 March 1812 by [...] D. Lamberson Junior Town Clerk.
