Description Drawn for Wild Oats 1877. | The servant being sick Mrs. Dove requests her husband to go down and make a fire in the furnace. "Don't forget the directions I gave you my dear. Let the wood get well-lighted before you put on the coal." (Time 6 A.M.) Mr. Dove determined to make no mistake slings in plenty of wood. The wood being in, he lights up. Result - smoke, dense smoke. He has forgot to open the draughts. "Mrs. Dove, I'll bet a cookie he has left the doors all open and my parlor curtains are being smoked up." Mr. Dove makes a dive for the cellar stairs, dashes into the hanging shelf & smashes things amid the choking & blinding smoke. Mrs. Dove groping into the cellar meets Mr. Dove groping out - Tableaux. The smoke gets outside, the Fire Department turns out. Mr. & Mrs. Dove besides being smoked are now drenched and washed around the cellar. Mr. Dove as he appeared when he arrived upstairs & sat down.
