Description Loving cup with spun urn-form body, two-part C-scroll handles culminating in sunbursts at the lip, short stem continuing to stepped circular foot. On one side of body is applied laurel wreath tied with bowknot enclosing bas-relief plaque of Apollo, and on opposite side is second laurel wreath tied with bowknot enclosing presentation inscription. Mounted on foot is cast trophy consisting of violin, bow, baton, and musical score tied with bowknot. Inscription: Engraved on body: To / Richard Arnold / Who for more than thirty years / has devoted himself heart and soul / to the interests of the / PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY / OF NEW YORK / This Token Of Esteem is presented / by / GRATEFUL MUSIC LOVERS / CARNEGIE HALL / MARCH 27th, 1909. Partial monogram or inscription near proper left ear of medallion Mark: Struck on inner edge of foot: [Graff, Washbourne & Dunn trademark] / STERLING.
