Description
Teapot with paneled octagonal body on cast rectangular base with four scroll-and-shell feet, lower section of body repoussé chased with floral motifs that create wreathlike reserve on central panel, four panels of upper section repousse chased with floral motifs, four panels flat chased with diaperwork, cast S-shaped spout with scrolls and leafage at base, conforming domed hinged cover with cast flame finial, cast S-scroll handles with leafy furls and insulator inserted in teapot handle. Part of a three-piece tea service comprising a teapot, sugar bowl, and milk pot. Inscription: Engraved on body: WJG. Mark: Marked on base, twice: G & H. Marked on base: 1849.
