Description A: Plain tortoise shell fan, sticks with rounded ends; black ribbon; rivet and loop with small ring at end of tortoise shell. B: Matching tortoise shell link chain with flat hook (for attaching to belt or waistband) and two curved hooks for fan and other accessories. Belonged to a member of the Fiedler family, ancestors of the donor, Mrs. John B. Trevor (née Evelyn Louisa Bruen, 1914-2001, married 1938). Mrs. Trevor was the daughter of Alexander Jay Bruen (1855-1937) and Constance Fiedler (approximately 1880-1935). She was a great-great-granddaughter of John Jay, the first chief justice of the United States.
