Description
Teapot from tea service with wood handle, inverted pyriform on stepped circular foot, repoussé chased with asymmetrical Rococo scrolls, raffles, and floral motifs, domed cover has concealed hinge and cast bud-in-leaves finial, wood C-scroll handle with carved furl held in cast, applied sockets, cast S-shaped spout ornamented with fluting and leafy furls, inside of cover and foot of pot lathe-skimmed, shaped lip outlined with gardrooning, and twisted strap handle. Inscription: Engraved on the body: [Van Rensselaer crest, a high basket, from which issue flames, all proper] / PSVR. Mark: Stuck on base in rounded rectangle: PDR. Scratched on base: 104 / 20 1.
