Description One of a pair of low fruit dishes with circular dish, shallow straight sides centering cast medallion on each side, opposing square handles mounted with circular cast bas-relief medallions depicting bacchanalian children on sides and cast figures of cherubs attached to upper surfaces, on circular trumpet foot edged with chased floral border, gilded interior and flat-chased with similar border. Inscription: Engraved on body: George Peabody / to / Cyrus W. Field / in testimony and commemoration / of an act of very high / commercial integrity and honor. / New York 24 Nov. 1866. Mark: Marked on base: [lion passant] [anchor] [Gothic G] / 340 / S & M / [etoile].
