Description Round silver medal with image of Confederation vignette which appears on $40 bills issued by Continental Congress, 1778-1779 on obverse, made in commemoration of the visit of French and English allies to the United States during WWI. Inscription: Engraved on obverse: CONFEDERATION [clouds around upper border above an all-seeing eye with rays cast down upon flaming altar, around altar are 13 eight-pointed stars]. Engraved on reverse: THE VETERAN CORPS OF ARTILLERY OF NEW YORK / AT CITY HALL, NEW YORK / ACTED AS / GUARD OF HONOR / -TO- / MARSHALL JOFFRE / AND THE FRENCH OFFICIALS / ON MAY 9TH / AND TO HON. A.J. BALFOUR / AND THE ENGLISH OFFICIALS / ON MAY 11TH / 1917.
