Description
Silver teapot with octagonal pyriform on stepped octagonal foot, paneled spout, and hinged domed octagonal cover with cast finial soldered in place, hollow S-handle with ivory insulators and acanthus furl. Body, handle, spout and cover engraved with floral motifs and body decorated with engraved floral motif flanking a bridge and balustrade centering scroll cartouches enclosing inscription. Inscription: Engraved within cartouche on body: Presented to / James B. Adriance / by / Gerardus Boyce. On other side within cartouche: as / a / mark of his / Esteem. / 1852. Mark: Struck on underside of base in rectangles: G. Boyce / N.York.
