Pitcher with raised, paneled lower body joined to circular pedestal base with die-rolled egg-and-dart border, vertically seamed midsection outlined with die-rolled scroll-and-shell borders and applied beading, scalloped lip outlined with applied beading and hollow S-scroll handle cast in two vertical halves. Inscription: Engraved on body: Presented to Col. Saml. S. Dunscomb by the Officers / of the 142nd Regt. 3rd Brigade of the N.Y.S. Infantry / as a token of the high sense they entertain of his Gentlemanly / and Officer-like deportment during a service of 23 Yrs. As an Officer in said Regt. / New York July 4th 1833 / Committee / Capt. H.M. Graham, / Wm. G.Wood / J. M. Kesson. Mark: Struck on underside of base: W. GALE / [male profile bust] [eagle in oval.]
