Description
Tankard with slightly tapered cylindrical body, applied molded baseband, S-scroll handle with baluster drop below five-knuckle hinge, vent hole at base of handle, stepped dome cover with crenate flange opposite handle, and cast scroll thumbpiece (worn on edges). Inscription: Engraved on base with scratch weight: "35 1/2 oz" ; Engraved with later initials: "R.R.L./P.R.L./B.L.M.D". Mark: Struck on body at either side of handle below rim: "WA" conjoined in rectangle.

Later inscriptions on the underside of base record a history of ownership extending from Judge Robert R. Livingston (1718-1775) to the donor's uncle Beverley Livingston (Died 1883)
