Description Tankard with raised circular body, straight tapered sides, two-step molded rim with meander wire, center punch on underside of base, applied base molding with inset band of meander wire below stamped foliate cut-card band, and raised-and-soldered hollow S-curved handle with cast lion couchant applied to upper handle back.  Cast five-knuckle hinge between bands of meander wire and applied, engraved leaflike form on handle back below hinge.  Handle terminal with cast cherub's head applied to shaped shield, circular upper vent and teardrop-shaped lower vent, raised circular one-step cover with flat top and center front flange.  Set into the lid is a quintuplethaler of 1654 with the arms of the Province of Hanover, Germany, and the monogram of its Elector, Christian Louis (both sides of coin exposed). Inscription: Engraved on underside of base: "WR" flanking center punch Mark: Left and right of handle at lip: "CK" in rectangle struck twice on body
