Description
Tankard with slightly tapered cylindrical body, applied molded baseband, double-scroll handle with baluster drop below five-knuckle hinge, curved and pointed handle terminal with eye-like device or vent, and stepped flat-top cover with cast scrolled thumbpiece and crenate projecting flange opposite the handle. Inscription: On the handle: "AB" (faint); Later inscriptions on the main body, in script: "Abraham Bussing / 17- / John Schermerhorn Bussing / 1843 / John Stuyvesant Bussing / 1905". Mark: "B LR" conjoined in an oval struck on the body, left of the handle near the lip.
