Description Ewer with round body, melon reeding on stepped circular pedestal base and S-scroll handle cast in two vertical halves with floral detail at lip and terminal. Die-rolled floral bands applied at lip, shoulder and foot. Cast eagles with outspread wings applied on either side of body above inscription and decorated with relief plaque depicting Hercules in act of rising with Fame on his shoulder, sounding trumpet applied to body opposite handle. Inscription: Engraved on body: Presented by the Officers of the Ninth Regiment / New York State Artillery to / Richards Kingsland, Esquire / in testimony of their united approbation of his Conduct as an Officer and / Gentleman during a service of many Years as Colonel Commandant of / the Regiment, and as a tribute of the affection and esteem in which he is held by the corps. New York 4th July 1821 / B & W 38 /Nassau St. Engraved on the other side of body: Officers of The Ninth Regimant 1st. Brigade N.Y.S Artillery / Alexander M.
