Description Baluster-shaped pitcher with hollow S-scroll handle, ornamented at base and shoulder with applied die-rolled pinnate leaf-and-dart border and narrow acanthus-leaf border at lip, and body with repoussé-chased laurel wreath supported by flags and cannon forming reserve opposite the handle. Inscription: Engraved within wreath: To / Capt. ALLEN A. RABINEAU / by the Officers & Privates / of the Lafayette Guards / FEBy. 22d, 1836 / Gordon S. Mumford, Eric W. Snow / Richard L. Brooks, John Jamison/Hillel Sexias. Mark: Struck twice on underside of base in serrated rectangle: B [pellet] GARDINER.
