Description Sterling silver three-handled loving cup or tyg with pyriform body, everted lip outlined with reeded molding on raised lobed foot with scalloped edge, cast C-scroll handles with leaf-like attachments to body at top and base, body with repoussŽ-chased lotus buds, blossoms, seed pods and leaves growing naturalistically from base, and cloud-like reserve between two handles for inscription. Engaved on obverse: To / Anton Seidl / From Fellow Members of / The Lotus Club / as a Token of / Friendship and Admiration / March 6th 1897. Engaved under the top rim, motto of the Club (from Tennyson): In The Afternoon They Came Unto a Land, In Which It Seemed Always Afternoon. Struck on underside of base: STERLING / [Indian with feather facing left] / SX 212 / 13 PTS.
