Description Ewer with raised body chased overall with foliate scrolls and two parrots on branches, on stepped circular foot. Die-rolled heart border in two widths applied to edge of foot and at junction of foot and body, at shoulder and at lip with plain S-scroll handle with furl, and decorative headlike shaping at juncture with body. Inscription: Engraved on body: To / John B. King, Esq. / from the / Police Officers / of the / City of Brooklyn / as a token of their regard / and esteem. January 1st. / 1851. Mark: Marked on underside of body: BALL, TOMPKINS & BLACK / J. B. / SUCCESSORS TO / MARQUAND & CO.
