Description
Inverted pyriform presentation pitcher on circular foot with repoussé-chased floral decoration on body and circular pedestal base, plain molding applied at lip, hollow S-scroll handle cast in vertical halves with chased detailing and die-rolled borders of leafy scrolls alternating with flowers applied at edge of base and at juncture of base with body (lower edge cut away).
Probably made in New York City. Inscription: Engraved on body: Presented to / Capt. Henry Windle / by the passengers of the / Steam Ship Cherokee on her / 5th voyage from New York to Chagres / April 22nd 1850.
