Description
Sugar bowl and cover with seamed rounded paneled body, incurved shoulder, and cast and applied scroll-and-shell border at edge of collar around cover, cast leaf-and-scroll feet, repoussé chased and engraved rose decoration creating central reserves on the side of the body, cast S-scroll handles, and loose paneled domed cover with cast bud finial. Part of two piece tea set. Inscription: Engraved on one side of body: From / the Directors of / the N.Y. Institution / for the / DEAF AND DUMB / To / Elizabeth Reynolds Budd, / New York, March 11, / 1845. Engraved on other side of body: ERB. Mark: Marked on base: G.W & H.
