A: Jacket in grey and cream basket-woven Scottish wool tweed; boxy "Einstein" cut, single-breasted; hip-length; cardigan neckline; saddle shoulder, bracelet-length sleeves; four stacked patch pockets, two at bust and two at hip; smoky mother of pearl shank button closures; stone grey silk lining. B: Same cut jacket in charcoal grey English worsted flannel; white mother of pearl button closures; charcoal grey silk lining. C: Below-knee length skirt in charcoal grey English worsted wool flannel; waistband at natural waist; wide box pleats flaring at thigh; proper left hook-and-eye closure placket; attached dove grey silk slip. D: Mini skirt in charcoal grey English worsted flannel; waistband at natural waist; knife-pleated all around; proper left hook-and-eye closure placket; unlined. E: Pants in charcoal grey English worsted flannel; straight cut; waistband at natural waist; double-front hip darts; proper left hook-and-eye closure placket; unlined. Hanging loops, C-E: Vera Maxwell. Designed in 1935 to provide a balanced wardrobe for the first five day work-week and two day weekend.
