Description
Tankard with slightly tapered cylindrical body with applied molded baseband, raised-and-soldered S-scroll handle ornamented below five-knuckle hinge with engraved leaflike applique and cast double-profile bust, handle terminal ornamented with cast mask of one of the four winds, meander wire inserted at the edge of flange with wriggle work, crenate projection opposite handle. The center of the cover is engraved with elaborate floral scroll mantling around coat-of-arms and body with similar mantling around oval reserve engraved with initials, crenate projection of cover, base of thumbpiece and double-bust profile applique stamped with snowflake-like punch (profile applique worn). Inscription: Engraved on body within reserve: "A/S*I" and on base: "IS"; Unidentified arms engraved on cover. Mark: Struck on base: "ISV" in trefoil: Struck on base: "INK" or "IVK" conjoined in rectangle mark struck on body about 2 1/2" to side of handle near rim and on cover near thumbpiece (very rubbed).
