Description
Teapot from tea service with ebony handle, tall oval pot with interior strainer on stepped oval pedestal base, S-scroll spout with three lines of roulette work at lip of spout, wooden C-scroll handle with furl pinned into silver sockets, and curved shoulder with incurved flange above. Applied drawn molding at edge of cover, top of shoulder, and edge of base, domed cover pierced with single vent hole surmounted by ball finial soldered in place and cover attached by concealed hinge. Inscription: Engraved on body within reserve: J. Mark: Marked on inside base: I [pellet] V / [2 pseudohallmarks].
