Description Know all men by these presents, that I, Jacob Van Wagenan, of the City of New York, Measurer for and in consideration of the sum of sixty pounds current money of the State of New York to me in hand paid, at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, by John Jones of the said City, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, and myself to be therewith fully satisfied, contented and paid: have granted, bargained, sold, released; and by these presents do fully, clearly and absolutely grant, bargain, fell and release unto the said John Jones, a Negro wench named Maria to have and to hold the said Negro Wench unto the said John Jones his Executors, Administrators and Assigns, for ever. And I the said Jacob Van Wagenan for myself, my Heirs, Executors and Administrators, do covenant and agree to and with the above named John Jones his Executors, Administrators and Assigns, to warrant and defend the Sale of the above named Negro Wench against all Persons whatsoever. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal, this third day of September Annoq. Dom. one thousand seven hundred and eighty five.
