Description Ebonized maple and yellow poplar Louis XVI revival chair with incised gilding and mother-of-pearl inlay, oval upholstered back and frame with incised gilded stringing; turned stiles with finials, and curved crest rail with circle inlaid with a butterfly with scrolled palmettes at sides and gilded fluted palmette on crest. Square seat with rail inlaid with mother-of-pearl stars and blocks of gilded flowers at knees. Trumpet-turned front legs. Stiles, skirt and front legs all with incised gilded vines and/or fluting.
