Capture and Fall of Charleston, S.C. Feby. 18th 1865.

Creator Currier & Ives
Accession number 56.300.407
Unique identifier MNY144958
Description Inconsequence of the triumphant march of Genl. Sherman through the State of South Carolina, Charleston was flanked, and the Rebels after a four years reign of treason were compelled to evacuate it: in their hasty retreat they fired a portion of the City, destroying their Cotton, Shipping, blowing up their Iron Clads, and producing all the devastation possible. But the Union troops quietly took possession, subdued the flames, and again restored the "Stars and Stripes" to their old position over City and Forts.;
