Description The "Golden Light" sailed from Boston for San Francisco February 12th 1853, at nine o'clock P. M. on the 22nd during a thunder storm, she was struck by lightning, and set on fire and at 6 P. M. of the 23rd all hands were driven to the boats, leaving the ship entirely in flames.
