Description Brisé painted ivory fan with applications of heavy embossed gilt metallized paper. Recto: central medallion depicting a man and woman in a pastoral setting, woman wearing a pink saque gown over a blue petticoat, man wearing a red suit and black cravat; there are two small medallions on either side of the central one, both depicting architectural motifs in monochromatic blue; at the base of the fan are two oriental, seated figures in blue and pink flanked by geometric designs of diamonds; outside sticks have similar seated oriental figures and stylized flowers; essentially blue and pink. Verso: central medallion with a bare tree, suggestion of leaves in a pink, blue and green background; these are flanked by two smaller medallions with the same tree motifs. Bone and ivory sticks, perforated pattern; applied gilt figures and patterns.
