Description Spun circular sterling-silver centerpiece bowl on stepped circular foot with cast and applied tongue-and bead border on top of foot and legend cast into outer footring, four festooned cast elephant-head handles on body, applied tongue-and-bead border at lip with slightly domed silver insert pierced and engraved in strapwork, and floral design and applied cast fluted bud finial. Inscription: Chased on body centered between two of elephant-head handles: MATT C. BRUSH/ FEBRUARY 19, 1931. Chased under tusks: J.E. KING/C.M. CURRY/J.M. DAVIS/E.P. THOMAS. Cast in low relief around outer footring: IN APPRECIATION OF THE ELEPHANTINE EFFORT OF THE ARCH-ALCHEMIST IN TRANSMUTING A DEBACLE OF JULY 1929 INTO A GODSEND OF OCTOBER 1930.
