Description Colored aquatint of the Papprill View of St. Paul's Chapel at Broadway and Fulton St.   [AHF label:  Today it is the cathedrals of commerce that tower over the city, but in the middle of the 19th century, it was the churches that poked their heads above the crowded landscape of southern Manhattan.  From left to right, the steeples belong to St. George's, the Middle Dutch Church, the old Middle Dutch Church (converted for use as the post office), and Trinity.  The artist climbed the steeple of St. Paul's Chapel, at the corner of Broadway and Fulton Streets, to make his image, which overlooks Broadway. ]
