The silk blouse softly drapes asymmetrically over the bust, caught by four stitched flat overlapping tucks on the left side. The high neck is finished with a bias binding and a small self-fabric bow. The blouse has a built-in silk camisole and a closed center back zipper that extends below its hem to provide additional ease when dressing.Blue and purple silk cornflowers clustered with mauve, pink, and gold silk roses punctuate the center of a cornflower-brocaded satin band beneath the bust. The signature Mainbocher bow at the waist has long streamers hanging to the hem.The silk-lined, below-elbow length sleeves are extended to three-quarter length by the addition of a double-sided fur cuff roll. The uniform dress fastens on the left at the waist with a hook and eye and has decorative self-fabric covered buttons and bound buttonholes, most unfinished on the inside. A self-belt is stitched to the dress over the waistline-seam. Its hand set-in sleeves are cut in two pieces: one a single-seamed tube running from shoulder to lower arm, the second a lower arm panel horizontally seamed 5” above the wrist. The sleeve vent fastens with covered buttons, bound buttonholes and wrist snap—the cuffs are trimmed with a bengaline band.
